Dr Jörg Strobel trained as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Germany where he worked as a forensic psychiatrist before migrating to Australia in 1996. He has worked since in various settings in the public Mental Health Service in South Australia including 10 years in roles as Clinical Director.

He is involved in teaching and research at Adelaide University and Flinders University respectively and serves on boards of NGOs. He is also pursuing entrepreneurial interests related to E-health interventions. The overarching theme of his interests is wholeness in the individual and the collective expressed in justice and inclusion.

He has a strong belief in the human capacity to overcome adversity and is championing recovery-oriented work. He brings a deepening interest and understanding of Integral Theory as a metatheory synthesising the various traditions of knowledge and a commitment to strengths based approaches to his work with patients and organisationally.
